WEG to unveil smart motor and drive technologies at Water Equipment Show 2025

WEG, the global leader in motor and drives, will present its latest water management solutions at The Water Equipment Show 2025, which takes place at the Telford International Centre, Telford, UK, on May 15, 2025.

WEG1269 - W23 Sync

At Stand S22 attendees can explore WEG’s advancements in motion drives, control solutions and digital technologies designed to enhance efficiency and sustainability in the water industry.

The Water Equipment Show is a leading UK event showcasing water and wastewater equipment, services and solutions from top suppliers. Highlights at WEG’s Stand S22 will include its Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Specifications (WIMES)-compliant W22 motor range, which delivers high performance, robust specifications and maximum energy efficiency — all supported by a three-year warranty.

WEG’s W22 range of three-phase induction motors are built for the most severe operating conditions, such as marine and saline environments. Their mechanical design not only optimises characteristics such as weight and length, but also adds durability and easy maintenance for use in remote regions. Available with IE3 and IE4 efficiency, the motors are used in critical water processes such as water feeding and recirculation processes in desalination plants.

Additionally, WEG will showcase its energy-efficient W23 Sync+ and W80 AXgen motors, paired with the CFW900 variable speed drive (VSD). The W23 Sync+ delivers superior efficiency through its hybrid permanent magnet (PM) and synchronous reluctance (SynRM) technology, exceeding the anticipated IE6 efficiency levels.

“The Water Equipment Show 2025 is an excellent opportunity to showcase how intelligent motor and drive solutions can transform water management,” said Marek Lukaszczyk, WEG UK & Middle East Marketing Manager. “Our advanced motor and drive technologies are designed to not only reduce energy consumption, but also help customers achieve measurable environmental goals without compromising performance.”

From an automation perspective, WEG will feature the CFW11 and CFW500 VSDs equipped with Pump Genius software. Pump Genius transforms a VSD into an intelligent pumping system, which ensures precise pressure and flow control throughout the wastewater treatment process. Uncontrolled pressure flows can be detected early to avoid serious damage to pumps, pipelines and fittings.

Another key innovation is WEGSEE+, an advanced software tool designed for energy management and sustainability analysis. WEGSEE+ enables users to assess energy savings potential, calculate return on investment and analyse greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions, empowering companies to make data-driven decisions that optimise resource efficiency.

Visitors can also explore WEG’s advanced digital solutions through a demonstration of the cloud-based Motion Fleet Management (MFM) system. MFM integrates with WEGscan sensors for real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance.

“WEG returns to this year’s Water Equipment Show with a stronger portfolio than ever,” said Lukaszczyk. “From motors that exceed IE6 efficiency levels to solar-powered pumping solutions, we’re helping the water sector become more efficient, resilient and future-ready.”
