Sutton and East Surrey Water Services Ltd and Anglian Water Business (National) Ltd have both applied to water sector regulator for retail water supply and sewerage licences ahead of the market opening for competition next year.
Sutton and East Surrey Water Services said it intends to become an active participant in the new market as a retailer of water and sewerage services and will build on its current activities as a holder of a Water Supply Licence in England and a water and sewerage licence in Scotland. It will also serve the non-household customer base of Sutton and East Surrey Water who intend to ‘exit’ the market when it opens in April 2017. The firm said it will also be seeking other opportunities to offer value and great service to customers across the country.
Anglian Water Business (National) Ltd has applied to Ofwat for a water and sewerage supply licence enabling it to provide water and sewerage retail services across England and Wales. Anglian Water Business (National) Ltd said it will build upon the strong position it has already established in the Scottish market.
Deadline to make representations or objections to the Sutton and East Surrey application is 28th July 2016, while the deadline to do likewise for the Anglian application is 26th July 2016.
