Scottish Water is entering the next phase of a £3 million upgrade to the waste water network in Cambuslang which will improve the environment.
The work has now moved onto Fraser Street for the upsizing of existing sewer pipes, and will also involve increasing the capacity of the sewer network, thereby reducing the risk of pollution to the nearby Eastfield Burn.
The significant investment, which is being carried out by Scottish Water’s alliance partner aBV is continuing on Glenside Drive with increasing the size of the sewer pipes and installing a new Combined Storm Overflow chamber.

“We are always working hard to do the right thing for our customers and the environment. These projects will do so by helping to alleviate flooding during periods of heavy rain and improving the quality of water in the adjacent Eastfield Burn.”
The £3 million project to upgrade Cambuslang/Rutherglen waste water network includes the expansion of the sewer capacity and construction of manholes, together with the construction of new a combined storm overflow (CSO) and removal of the old CSO to screen sewer discharges to the Eastfield Burn and reduce the risk of flooding during periods of heavy rainfall
The current works on Dukes Road involve the construction of a new CSO with integral screens, headwall and outfall pipework. This will improve the aesthetic quality of discharges to Eastfield Burn during periods of heavy rainfall, and address an internal flooding problem to a local property
