South East Water progresses pipeline and reservoir schemes

South East Water is progressing work on a £385,000 pipeline scheme and  a £300,000 reservoir scheme - the projects forms part of South East Water’s £424 million investment programme between 2015 and 2020.

Residents in Four Marks are being invited to come and see plans for to install a new 1,340-metre water pipeline to help to secure water supplies for existing and future customers.

Matthew Cooper, Project Manager at South East Water, said the new pipeline, which will be carried out in three phases, will improve the capacity of the network and ensure water pressure is maintained as the community grows.

In a separate scheme South East Water is planning to give the oldest reservoir in its network a £300,000 upgrade.

Paradise Reservoir, built on downland in 1869, is to be completely re-lined in a six month project commencing later in May.

Safety will be a key issue during the work - South East Water Project Manager Mark Gelinski said the downland near the reservoir site is used extensively by walkers and cyclists and the company wants to ensure the safety of everyone who may be in the area when heavy equipment is being moved to and from storage compounds.
