Yorkshire Water announces new £50m IT investment

Yorkshire Water has announced an £50m investment in IT over the next four to seven years which will increase innovation, save time and ultimately help keep customers’ bills as low as possible.

The firm has brought in eight new partners under a new flexible framework which will cover 12 key areas such as application management, infrastructure and new projects. The scope of the framework is broken down into two sections, Advisory and Delivery of IT Services.

The new structure will allow Yorkshire Water to deliver a better service for its customers at a lower cost and improve innovation through increased levels of competition and collaboration amongst the suppliers. The new partners will replace the one partner which is currently in place and will collaboratively to come up with world-class solutions.

IT Vendor Manager, Jo Robinson said:

“This is an exciting investment which will allow us to build on the existing IT infrastructure. It has been created to increase our capacity, flexibility and capability to deliver IT Services.

“We chose our partners based on capabilities, but also their ethics and culture to ensure they would fit in with what we want to achieve."

“We are looking forward to see what the new partners can bring and help us deliver a better service for customers at a lower cost.”

There was a three-stage process to bring in the new companies, with Hexaware, Sopra-Steria, DXC, Cap Gemini, PA Consulting, Infosys, Italik and Wipro winning the contracts which will begin on April 1st.

Industry Manager at DXC Technology, Paul Pimlott said:

“We look forward to working in partnership with Yorkshire Water, bringing innovation and digital technologies in support of Yorkshire Water’s delivery of water and waste water services in a safe and efficient way.”
