Anglian Water has set out plans to invest a total of £8 million-plus for upgrades at seven Water Recycling Centres in its region, including an update of recently completed projects.
All the projects include new equipment and technology to strengthen the current water recycling process and remove even more phosphorous from wastewater. The equipment will help remove harmful algae growth and improve water quality in local watercourses.
Anglian Water’s team has used detailed modelling of the local systems to design robust engineering schemes for all the WRC upgrades.
Projects due to get underway, in hand or completed include:
- Wing Water Recycling Centre (WRC) £1.4 million+ Work is due to start on site this month and is expected to finish by summer 2024.
- Willingham by Stow WRC £500,000+ Work is expected to finish by summer 2024.
- Legbourne WRC £1.7 million+ Work will start on site this month and is expected to finish by spring this year.
- East Harling WRC £675,000+ Work will start on site this month and is expected to finish by summer 2024.
- Great Waldingfield WRC £3 million Work started on site this month and is expected to finish by spring 2024.
- Sudbury WRC c £1.9 million Recently completed upgrade to protect the River Stour.
- Steeple Bumpstead WRC £1 million Work underway on upgrade to protect the River Stour.
All of the upgrades are being undertaken by Anglian Water’s @one Alliance which delivers complex engineering and construction projects across the water company’s region.
