Infrastructure consulting firm AECOM has announced plans to hire around 380 people for its Environment, Water and Energy (EWE) business this year.
The new recruits will support AECOM’s expanding project portfolio as clients seek support with challenges such as climate change, water scarcity and the energy transition.
AECOM’s EWE teams are working on some of the sector’s most important climate related projects as business and industry seeks to decarbonise. Its portfolio includes:
- Mansfield sustainable drainage scheme where AECOM is designing innovative nature-based solutions to provide climate resilience and reduce flood risk for the community.
- Delivering management of the Environmental Impact Assessment work for National Grid’s Grimsby to Walpole upgrade project as part of a partnership.
- Undertaking the front-end engineering design for ATOME’s 120MW Villeta Project, a new green hydrogen based fertilizer project in Paraguay.
The roles will cover areas such as energy (including transmission & distribution and renewables), water, environmental impact assessments, planning and communities, carbon and ESG, environmental health and safety, and environmental due diligence.
Gert Vermeiren, managing director of the Environment, Water and Energy business line at AECOM in Europe & India commented:
“An increasing number of clients are seeking our support for the major transition they need to achieve to reach net zero, whether that’s decarbonisation, the energy transition, or enhancing their natural capital.
“For our people this means there are a number of exciting opportunities to work on the most impactful projects in the region in terms of reaching net zero.
“This exciting project pipeline coupled with the benefits of working for AECOM, such as its Freedom to Grow policy which supports employees in finding the balance and flexibility they need to do their best, deliver for clients and bring their whole selves to work is, I believe, a compelling proposition for anyone looking to forge a rewarding career in the consultancy sector and make a difference.
“In addition, AECOM’s Think and Act Globally strategy aims to bring the best global thinking and innovation to any of our projects. It means that our teams get to work with colleagues worldwide and they also could get the chance to bring their expertise and ideas to projects in other regions.
