NI Water begins £1m upgrade on treatment works

Work is now underway on a £1million upgrade to the Wastewater Treatment Works at Tamnaherin, Nothern Ireland Water has announced.

John McGrane, NI Water Project Manager for the scheme said:

“The new plant at Tamnaherin will benefit the local community by improving wastewater services in the area. The modern new processes being installed will increase the capacity of the treatment works to accommodate development in the area for the foreseeable future and will bring about environmental improvements, ensuring that wastewater treatment in the locality meets Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) compliance standards.”

“NI Water is currently investing approximately £3 million per week improving water and wastewater services throughout Northern Ireland and the upgrade of Tamnaherin is one of the many projects being undertaken to deliver a 21st century infrastructure to Northern Ireland.”

Shearwater Consortium is the contractor for this project with AECOM providing design and technical support.
