Thames Water reveals bidders for £3bn AMP6 alliance

Thames Water has revealed the bidders for its alliance framework, worth up to £3 billion, which will deliver the utility’s AMP6 programme.

Seven joint ventures comprising twenty contractors and consultants will tender for the alliance, which will help form plans for Thames Water’s capital investment programme for 2015-2020.

The joint ventures in the running are:

 - Amec and May Gurney

 - Costain, Veolia, Atkins

 - GMM (Galliford Try, Morrison Utility Services, Mott MacDonald)

 - KUV Water (Kier, URS, VolkerFitzpatrick)

 - MBVA (Murphy, Black & Veatch, AECOM)

- Skanska, MWH, Balfour Beatty

- Tamesis Plus (Laing O’Rourke, Imtech, Barhale)

The alliance board will be formed of seven members. One member will be from Thames Water, four from contractors, one consultant programme manager and one technology and innovation provider.

The programme manager will be procured separately. Candidates in the running are:

- AECOM

- Amec Group

- CH2M Hill UK

- Jacobs UK

- Mott MacDonald

- MWH UK

The working principles of the company’s AMP6 alliance represent a big change from past delivery models. They include a joint team working with an integrated supply chain, boosting safety and efficiency and making sure solutions delivered are sustainable and value for money in the future.

The AMP6 alliance will get involved early in shaping Thames Water’s business plan for the next five-year period.

A spokesperson for Thames Water said this stage of the procurement is for the “top tier”of the alliance, adding that “there will still be opportunity for other contractors/consultants to work for the alliance.”

Selected partners in the early contractor engagement’ alliance will be revealed in the Spring. Thames Water said that at this stage of the procurement process it would be inappropriate to comment and that 'early engagement' contracts would be announced in April.
