The Consumer Council for Water in the Western region has called for Bristol Water to demonstrate how it is delivering value for money to customers, as the water company announced its annual financial results.
Bristol Water, reported an operating profit for the financial year of £25.2million, an increase of just over 5% over the previous year.
Charles Howeson, Chairman of the local Committee for the Consumer Council for Water, said: “Bristol Water has reported a healthy profit margin for 2006-07, and their customers will want to see the company is delivering value for money in terms of service and cost.
“We acknowledge that profits do have the benefit of helping the company to deliver improvements, and we acknowledge that Bristol Water has a good record of hitting the targets set by Ofwat. But, since all company revenue comes from customers, the company must demonstrate to their customers that they are providing value for money by investing their profits into improving services.”
