Xylem partners with Israel’s national water company Mekorot

Leading global water technology company Xylem has announced today that it has signed a cooperation agreement with WaTech®, the technological development centre of Mekorot, Israel’s national water company, to evaluate new water technologies and accelerate commercialization of innovative products and services.

Under the agreement, the organizations will jointly assess emerging technologies related to water quality and security, optimization of water supply and sustainable water and wastewater treatment and reuse.

“We are proud to be partners with Mekorot WaTech on this meaningful initiative,” said Steve Loranger, CEO and president of Xylem.  “Innovative and pioneering product development is at the very heart of what Xylem does. As global leaders in water, our mission is to play a leading role in solving the multifaceted issues we all face in securing a safe and sustainable water supply.”

Simon Ben-Hamo, CEO of Mekorot said that Israel’s national water company was dedicated to seeking and developing new technologies as a central part of Mekorot. He added that the partnership with Xylem marked a new era in mutual advancement in developing global state-of-the-art water sector products.

In addition to facilitating the joint evaluation of new technologies by the two companies, the cooperation agreement will enable Xylem to test new products at Mekorot facilities as a way to demonstrate product viability, providing the opportunity to accelerate development.

Mekorot is one of the world’s most technologically advanced water companies.  More than seventy-five years of innovation in the face of Israel’s significant environmental and security challenges have made Mekorot a world leader in desalination, water reclamation, water project engineering, water safety and water quality.

Through continual research, experimentation and field innovation, Mekorot provides a steady flow of clean water to a rapidly growing population despite the region’s limited freshwater resources, arid climate and geopolitical challenges. WaTech is the Entrepreneurship & Partnership Center for Water Technologies within Mekorot and works to support new innovative water technologies solutions.
