Over 120 members and industry guests attended the SBWWI annual awards lunch on 19 November where the Health & Safety and People Awards proved to be very closely contested, with four companies in each category being shortlisted.
RPS Water took the top honours in the H&S category for 'The Best Journey' – a PAS 99 registered integrated Management System which encompasses ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001, achieving a 60% reduction in RIDDOR reportable incidents since its introduction.
The People award, which recognises a team or individual who had 'gone the extra mile' to provide excellent service to their company and the local community was presented to Morrison for their 'Back to School: Communicating Safety in the Classroom’ submission which targeted site safety awareness in a particularly high risk group – primary school children. The Optimise Group received a Highly Commended for their ‘Flood Alleviation Project’ submission which demonstrated best practice in collaboration between six organisations.
The Awards are one of a number of initiatives undertaken by SBWWI throughout the year to promote its members products, services and processes.
