Severn Trent Water - lowest average combined bills for fifth year in a row

For the fifth year in a row, Severn Trent Water's household customers will continue to receive the lowest average combined water and sewerage bills in England and Wales.

According to figures released today by industry body Water UK, the average combined bill will increase by £3 – a change of 1.1 per cent from last year – which is less than the current rate of inflation.

Severn Trent, which supplies over eight million customers from mid-Wales to Rutland and from the Bristol Channel to the Humber, said that at £333 the average bill for 2014/15 remains the lowest thanks to a package of cost saving improvements..

Looking at last year’s performance, Severn Trent Water also managed to reduce leakage levels more than any other water company and sewer blockages were also reduced by 30 per cent overall. To protect the environment, the company has also invested in its sewage treatment works, to help prevent pollution and improve the health of rivers. Four new wind turbines have also been constructed to generate energy more sustainably, which helps to protect customers from energy price rises.
