Anglian Water reaches preferred bidder stage on AMP6

Anglian Water has confirmed this morning that it is now at preferred bidder stage on negotiations with a number of companies who are in the running for its AMP6 capital works programme.

However, the utility has declined to comment officially on the publication of the names of the parties involved in the process – all of whom have signed confidentiality agreements with the water company.

Anglian Water has said that it will not make any official comment on the award of the contracts until April and that preferred bidders are also expected to maintain confidentiality on the matter.

The utility is keen to ensure the process is fair to all participants. Unofficial announcements on potential bidders in the process could provide unintended competitive advantage- and could also impact on the share prices of those in the running.

The AMP 6 contract is estimated to be worth around £2 billion - similar to the current AMP5 capital investment programme of £ 2 billion. Extension options into the AMP7 and AMP8 investment periods to 2030 would take this up to between £6 billion and £9 billion. Several operators are likely to win places on the framework.

The five year contract will be divided into four lots covering metering; repair and maintenance (water and wastewater infrastructure capital works); small Capital (water and wastewater infrastructure capital works, and water and wastewater non-infrastructure capital works); medium Capital (water and wastewater infrastructure capital works, and water and wastewater non-infrastructure capital works).
