Northumbrian Water awards AMP6 contracts worth up to £333m over 9 years

Northumbrian Water has awarded AMP6 framework partnerships contracts worth up to £333 million over nine years.

The multi million pound contracts have been awarded to maintain top drinking water quality in the North East of England and in Essex and Suffolk.

Four companies have been chosen to carry out the work which is expected to be worth around £37 million in total per year. The contracts will run for an initial three years with the option to further extend them for six more years.

The work will be carried out in the North East of England and in Northumbrian Water’s southern region where it operates as Essex & Suffolk Water.

Fastflow Pipeline Services, based in Washington, Tyne & Wear, have won the major share of the work with an annual value of £20.5 million in the North East and £9.5million in Essex.

Other contracts have been awarded to Crossglade from Chelmsford, Essex with an annual value of £5million; Lowman from Southend, Essex with an annual value of £1million and T4 Survey from Ipswich for work in Suffolk with an annual value of £1million.

The work includes network improvements, water main installation and renewals, new service and meter connections, repair and maintenance, enabling works and reinstatement.

John Devall, Water Director for Northumbrian Water, said:

"We are determined to maintain and improve the extremely high water quality and levels of services we currently deliver and these contracts will help us achieve our leading targets.”

"Selecting a special group of companies to help us deliver our investment programme allows us to guarantee work and quality standards at competitive prices and means we can develop mutually beneficial relationships.

"The work is of a specialised nature and the selected companies have a strong presence in the regions we operate in and, in turn, their success will also have a positive impact on a diverse and wide group of businesses regions-wide."

Further framework contract announcements will follow next year when Northumbrian Water’s names its chosen partners to deliver investment for the company’s treatment and sewerage assets.
