Natural Resources Wales, the body responsible for rivers and coastal protection in Wales, has awarded a contract for flood risk management civil engineering worth an estimated £70 million.
The contract - part of phase 1 of NRW’s Civil Engineering Framework Agreement is divided into two Lots and includes work on flood risk management construction, wave and scour protection, impounding, conveyance structures, managed realignment and land remediation.
A total of 13 contractors have won a place on the £70 million civil engineering programme.
Lot 1 - Complex Civil Engineering North and South zones - up to £45m
- North Wales – Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd; Balfour Beatty; Dawnus; Galliford Try
- South Wales – Alun Griffiths(Contractors) Ltd; Galliford Try; JBA Bentley; Walters UK
Lot 2 – Standard Civil Engineering North East, North West, South East & South West zones - up to £25m
- North East – Dawnus; Forkers; Jones Bros Ruthin (Civil Engineering) Co Ltd; William Hughes(Civil Engineering) Ltd
- North West – Jones Bros Ruthin; Kaymac Marine & Civil Engineering; William Hughes (Civil Engineering) Ltd
- South East – Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd ; Dyer & Butler; Raymond Brown Construction; Walters UK
- South West – Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd; Dyer & Butler; G D Harries; Raymond Brown Construction Ltd
The contract covers Phase 1 only of NRW’s Civil Engineering Framework Agreement - Phase 2 tender documentation will be issued separately in the coming months.
Phase 2 focuses on civil engineering for the organisation’s forest estate and natural woodlands; the lots included are Lot 3 – Primary Infrastructure and Associated Services and Lot 4 – Secondary Infrastructure and Associated Services.
