The Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is to hold a pre competition engagement workshop on the provision of ICT services for two upcoming contracts worth an estimated £131 million in total.
ICT services are currently provided through 2 prime contracts via different suppliers - both contracts are due to expire in 2018. The in-scope Defra Group organisation are Defra, the Environment Agency, Rural Payments Agency, Natural England, Marine Maritime Organisation, Animal and Plant Health Agency.
The current contracts deliver services through 2 main suppliers across 371 sites in the UK. The service is to be made available to 23,000 staff across the UK. Other Defra affiliated organisations may also choose to take services under the proposed contract at a later date.
The End User Environment programme has been commissioned to transition the in-scope ICT provision across the authority to a new, single and more effective Defra ICT organisation with core/common services and a supporting delivery model that will replace the current service provisions. The programme is delivering a new Defra Group ICT operating model primarily through new work-streams, each looking at delivering distinct services.
Defra is planning to invite prospective suppliers to a EUE Supplier Event, which is expected to be hosted at the start of May 2017.
