Thames Water has gone out to tender with a major reinstatement works contract for the remainder of AMP6 and possibly extending into AMP7 - the potential estimated total value of the contract is put at £258 million.
The initial three year contract will run from year 3 of the current AMP6 investment onwards, the potential to extend to a maximum of 8 years to include the upcoming AMP 7 2020-2025 period.
The contract is being tendered in three separate Lots for North London (£104 million), South London (£ 88 million) and Thames Valley (£66.4 million) respectively.
Thames Water and its alliance partners complete approximately 150,000 reinstatements per year at a cost of £30 million per annum, including avoidable streetworks fines and penalties.
The scope of the tender covers reinstatement work carried out by Thames Water and its alliances - the IA (developer services and repair and maintenance), eight2O (capital delivery projects) and through the WNS contract for the waste network - across all geographies and contract types.
The work-streams include :
- Infrastructure alliance — Repair and maintenance
- Infrastructure alliance — Developer services
- Metering
- eight2O — capital delivery projects
- Waste network
- Customer side leakage
According to the water company, while reinstatement work is a “major challenge” for the company and its partners, it also offers great opportunities to deliver operational efficiencies, best value for money, together with providing an excellent customer experience.
The water company is looking to appoint up to six suppliers to the framework agreement. All suppliers who respond to the tender will be required to complete a pre-qualification questionnaire.
Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 3oth June 2017 – click here to access the tender documentation.
