Scottish Water has gone out to tender with a contract for the supply and delivery of chemicals throughout Scotland worth an estimated £30 million.
The water company is seeking to establishing a framework as a long term collaborative arrangement to ensure the following benefits:
create a collaborative approach to managing the wider supply chain
- monitor usage rates
- health and Safety support
- technical and product expertise
- improved customer service
- surety of supply.
The estimated value of the contract has been calculated over an eight year period (4 year fixed and optional 2 x 2 years of extensions).
Chemicals required through the framework include:
- Ammonium Sulphate
- Caustic Soda (Sodium Hydroxide)
- Citric Acid
- Hydrochloric Acid
- Mono Sodium Phosphate (MSP)
- Phosphoric Acid (MSP)
- Poly-Aluminium Chloride (PAC) (Alba 18)
- Sodium Bisulphite
- Sodium Carbonate
- Sodium Hypochlorite (Hypo)
- Sulphuric Acid
Scottish Water is looking to optimise the number of suppliers to give best value. However, the utility reserves the right to appoint a single source supplier if deemed best value.
