The Environment Agency has awarded a £5 million contract security services contract for the supply of security guard services at critical infrastructure in Greater London for the Thames Barrier and five associated sites.
The contract covers the provision of manned uniformed security guarding services at the Thames Barrier and mobile patrolling of five associated remote flood defence sites in the Greater London area at Barking, Dartford Creek Barriers and KGV Dock and Gallions Flood Gates.
Duties include controlling site access egress, manning security control room and gate houses, together with mobile patrolling, responding and monitoring CCTV, intruder and fire alarm systems on a 24 hour 365 day a year basis.
The contract term is an initial period of 2 years with further options to extend by a further 3 years
Prospective suppliers who tendered for the work were required to be a member of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) with all individual guards required to hold a relevant SIA licence and have UK Government Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) clearance.
Barrow-Upon-Humber firm Profile Security Services Ltd, one four contractors who tendered for the work, have been awarded the contract, which has a final value of around £6.82 million in total.
