Thames Water is getting ready to tender the contracts for its £2.6 billion AMP7 Major and Non-Major Capital Projects framework contracts and set out details of its proposed procurement process.
Thames' draft AMP7 plan includes a number of complex projects, significant programmes and anticipates a potential increased volume in maintenance activity in response to changing customer and stakeholder needs, population growth and a changing environment.
Thames has set out details of the proposed procurements it intends to commence in the next 12 months - full details are still currently being developed. The procurement will cover the following three key areas:
- AMP7 Capital programmes framework;
- Civils, Mechanical and Electrical Contracts (CMEC) Framework;
- Major projects
The AMP7 capital programmes contracts will be tendered in the following Lots:
- Lot 1 Non-Infrastructure Works North and South London
- Lot 2 Non-Infrastructure Thames Valley
- Lot 3 Infrastructure South London
- Lot 4 Infrastructure – North London
- Lot 5 Thames Valley
The AMP7 Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Contracts (CMEC) framework will cover the whole Thames Water region to be tendered in the following Lots:
- Lot 1 CMEC - Non-Infrastructure Civils
- Lot 2 CMEC - Infrastructure Civils
- Lot 3 CMEC - Mechanical and Electrical Works
- Lot 4 CMEC - Minor Civil Works
Thames Water will issue separate tenders for two AMP7 Major Projects at its Guildford and Mogden sewage treatment works with a combined estimated total value of £180 million.
Indicative value of a new sewage treatment works at its Guildford site is put at between £60 to £70 million, while upgrading Mogden Sewage Treatment Works to ensure it is resilient and optimised to treat sewage and sludge with changing weather patterns and population growth has an indicative contract value of between £80 million to £130 million.
The water company has developed a market engagement survey to support the procurement proposals. Interested suppliers who would like to participate will need to request access to the survey.
Thames Water is also planning a procurement launch event provisionally scheduled for late July 2019 where it will provide further information about the upcoming opportunities, procurement processes and an opportunity to ask questions. The water company said spaces at the event are limited so priority will be given to major projects and capital delivery lots.
