Southern Water is looking for early supplier engagement and input on its plans for a desalination plant.

The water company is at an early stage in the development of its solutions and is testing the market prior to formulating any formal procurement opportunity.
Southern Water is carrying out a soft market testing exercise on the supply of reverse osmosis membranes for a desalination plant and is inviting potential suppliers to contribute.
The utility said the aim of the market engagement exercise is to gain a better understanding of the capacity and appetite of the market to deliver the requirement. This relates specifically to the market's potential commitment to achieve DWI Regulation 31 certification, which is a necessary requirement for supplying Reverse Osmosis membranes to be installed for Southern Water’s Desalination solution.
The scope of the requirement could potentially also include installation, maintenance and commissioning and after sales technical support services for the Reverse Osmosis membranes.
Supplier engagement will take the form of virtual one to one meetings in November 2020 via Webex.
The closing date for expressing an interest in the engagement event and requesting a meeting slot will be 12.00 noon on 18 November 2020. Meetings will be held during week commencing 23 November 2020.
There is also potential additional scope for a requirement of non-regulated membranes for water recycling, and this will be discussed at the meetings.
