United Utilities has further extended its existing relationship with Vyntelligence with the award of a new £1.8 million contract.

The contract covers the supply of an asynchronized video SaaS license agreement with specific water utility company technology to support United Utilities Wholesale business and its need to provide remote assurance, operational efficiency and improve compliance across the business with the use of artificial intelligence.
Services to be provided under the contract will include:
- Unlimited User access to the software
- Asynchronous Multimedia Data Capture with AI powered intelligence & collaboration
- Open API integrations with industry 3rd party platforms e.g. Salesforce, IBM Maximo, Oracle and websites
- Complex AI Scene recognition
- GenAI – Speech and visual summarization
The contractual arrangement includes:
- Pre and post sales application support
- Technical support and training
- Software licences
- Highest levels of security and data privacy standards applicable to National Infrastructure safety requirements, ideally with multiple Utilities clients
- App must support offline data capture and storage with automatic upload when signal restored with GPS tracking
The contract was negotiated without a prior call for competition on the basis that the services could only be provided only by the incumbent supplier, based on the absence of competition for technical reasons
United Utilities came to the conclusion that the significant extra technical steps required to both transition to, and implement non-incumbent technology would present disproportionate technical difficulties compared to continuing to procure additional supplies from the incumbent economic operator.
The water company, which supplies more than 3 million homes and businesses, partnered with Vyntelligence to improve their new connections processes, resulting inimproved developer customer experience scores and 2,500 hours of administration saved.
United Utilities wanted to improve customer experience by simplifying the way customers explain the status of their sites and identify any issues. Vyn was deployed to customers and field teams to build a digital video record of site visits and issues for action. Customers now carry out a guided self-survey at the site, reducing the need to wait for an appointment.
Other water companies Vyn has worked with include Northumbrian Water, Severn Trent and Dwr Cymru
