Gwynedd Council (Cyngor Gwynedd) has awarded a contract for construction work on the Croes Y Waun flood alleviation scheme worth an estimated £236,000.

The purpose of the scheme is to upgrade the existing culvert system, upgrade pipe sizes and improve alignment at Croes y Waun and create an open channel cut off drain that directs overland flows to the culverts.
The purpose of the scheme is to alleviate the flooding witnessed in Waunfawr related to two specific areas of concern near Croes-y-waun and Pant-y-waun following a series of flooding problems over recent years.
Scope of works includes upgrading the existing culvert system, upgrading pipe sizes and improving alignment at Croes y Waun and creating an open channel cut off drain that directs overland flows to the culverts. t
Current estimated start and end contract dates 15 September 2025 to 19 December 2025.
The contract has been awarded to OBR Construction Ltd, one of three firms in the bidding for the work. mostly within the North Wales geographical area
