Southern Water has made a direct AMP8 contract award for the sampling of emerging contaminants with an estimated value of £2.018 million (inc VAT).

The contract covers an extensive sampling exercise of inlets/outlets using passive sampling to determine micropollutants at very low concentrations over an extended period. Scope includes the upply of Chemcatcher technology, prep/deployment, lab analysis of membranes and reporting.
Current estimated contract dates are 23 December 2025 to 22 December 2026.
Southern Water has made the award to the single supplier FERA Science Ltd, which is based at the York Biotech Campus in Sand Hutton, for technical reasons.
The water company says the direct award was due to an absence of competition - uniquely the supplier of services covering the range of contaminants, volumes and frequency of analysis was identified to deliver the project, within the necessary timeline and use of Chemcatcher technology.
