Portsmouth Water has awarded an AMP8 contract for laboratory water testing services with an estimated value of nearly £386,000 (ex VAT) to South East Water Scientific Services Ltd.
The water company went out to tender in December 2024 - scope of the procurement covered the collection and analysis of samples for portable water to comply with the latest Water Supply (water quality) regulations.
The supplier will be required to provide Portsmouth Water with courier services, sampling bottles, crates and analytical services – the contract does not include providing any sampling activities. The supplier must be accredited at all times to ISO17025 and DWTS and able to demonstrate UKAS Demonstration Scope 3.
Under the contract South East Water Scientific Services Ltd is required to report all analysis results within the required timeframe and meet the following requirements:
- Samples to be transported daily to the supplier’s laboratory
- Full temperature records for all samples will be required for samples which are stored or transported in line with ISO 5667 2-8°C.
- Supplier must maintain a full chain of custody for samples that are transported and confirm, upon receipt, which samples cannot be analysed.
- Supplier must report all analysis results within the required quality and regulatory timeframes.
- Supplier must provide a monthly report detailing where SLA's have and have not been met.
Estimated value of the contract at the time of going out to tender was £2 million (ex VAT) with an initial term of 5 years and a possible extension option of up to a further 5 years. The optional extension is at Portsmouth Water's discretion and will be dependent on the volume and throughput of work available, and the contractor’s performance.
South East Water Scientific Services Ltd. was one of two companies who tendered for the work.
