United Utilities has launched two separate preliminary market engagement exercises for mobile GAC contactors and mobile chemical dosing – the purpose of both projects is to research and explore the implementation of mobile water treatment within the company’s operations.

The water company is particularly interested in implementing a fleet of mobile GAC contactors which could be used at various sites to combat taste and odour issues caused by Geosmin and 2-MIB. United Utilities is looking to use this technology in multiple locations with flows approximately from 1-10ML/D, generally aiming to achieve Geosmin reduction from circa 20 mg/L.
For mobile chemical dosing rigs, United Utilities is interested in implementing the rigs which could be used at various sites to dechlorinate water before discharging to a surface water body. The company is looking to use this technology to address the concentration of chlorine discharging to the environment in multiple locations for flow capacities up to 50 ML/D.
