Severn Trent Water has gone out to tender on behalf of itself and sister company Hafren Dyfrdwy Cyfyngedig with a major AMP8 Framework contract for Tunnelling, Drilling & Shaft Works for Build Only and Design & Build with an estimated total value of £1.44 billion including VAT.
The utilities’ requirement is for the provision of a multi lot Tunnelling, Drilling & Shaft Works Framework for the delivery of works as Build Only and Design & Build across the companies’ regions.The requirements will be predominantly Design & Build.
The contract is being tendered in multiple Lots across two primary Lots – namely, Lot 1B. Build Only - Tunnelling, Drilling & Shaft Works and Lot 2 DB. Design & Build - Tunnelling, Drilling & Shaft Works
Interested parties will have the opportunity to select the specific Lots they want to undertake when invited to tender following their expression of interest in the opportunity. Bidders can select one or multiple lots for either Build and or Design & Build works.
Lot 1B. Build Only - Tunnelling, Drilling & Shaft Works (£360 million inc VAT)
The Lots ending "B" require the contractor to deliver the works as Principal Contractor only.

- Lot 14B - open caisson wet

The utilities’ intention is to call off works under the Framework via mini competition or direct allocation, where direct allocation is permitted.
Deadline for submission of enquiries about the contract is 11:59pm on 15 April 2026 and deadline for submission of requests to participate 11:59pm on 28 April 2026.
Current estimated start and end contract dates are 30 September 2026 to 29 September 2038 with further possible extension options up to 30 March 2041.
Estimated contract awards decision date is currently 30 September 2026.
