United Utilities has gone out to tender with an AMP8 framework contract for battery-powered level monitoring with a total estimated value of £30 million including VAT.
The water company is looking to appoint three end-to-end delivery partners to support the continued deployment of battery-powered level monitoring for Dynamic Network Management across its wastewater network during the mid to late stages of AMP8.
The programme is expected to deliver approximately 15,000 monitors through a phased rollout over an initial three-year term, with the option to extend for a further five years. Estimated contract dates are 31 March 2027 to 30 March 2030 with the further possible extension option up to 30 March 2035. Estimated contract award decision date is 31 March 2027.
In addition to level monitoring, the framework is intended to facilitate the deployment of a broader range of sensing technologies, including, flow, pressure, rainfall, water quality and asset condition monitoring.
United Utilities is looking for suppliers capable of delivering robust, interoperable monitoring solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing telemetry systems, data platforms and operational processes, providing accurate and near real-time data to support operational decision-making.
Scope of the framework includes the following delivery elements:
- Survey Hardware procurement
- Installation and commissioning
- Data acquisition and transfer
- Fleet performance reporting and incident management
- Maintenance and lifecycle support
Deadline for submission of enquiries about the tender is 5:00pm on 12 October 2026 and tender submission deadline is 2:00pm on 16 December 2026.
