Southern Water has announced some of the partners it will be working with to deliver a range of improvements for its customers under its AMP6 Business Plan for 2015 to 2020.
The £3 billion plan includes a range of promises about what the company will achieve for the 4.5 million people it serves across Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The promised improvements to services will be delivered while keeping bill increases below the rate of inflation.
Matthew Wright, Southern Water’s Chief Executive, said:
“We look forward to working with CMDP, GTM and MGjv, together with MWH, as part of our new Southern Water Partnership to plan and implement innovative ways of improving the water and wastewater services we provide. This, in turn, will make us more efficient and able to provide better value to our customers.”
The newly announced members of the Southern Water Partnership will be delivering improvements across the company’s 94 water supply works, 368 wastewater treatment works and extensive water and wastewater networks under the following ‘packages’ of work:
CMDP, which sees Costain & MWH working in a joint venture, will deliver a range of schemes to maintain and improve Southern Water’s water supply and wastewater treatment works in the eastern half of its region (Kent & East Sussex)
GTM, a joint venture between Galliford Try and Imtech, supported by strategic design partner Atkins, has been awarded the contract to deliver maintenance and improvement schemes at water supply and wastewater treatment works in the western half of Southern Water’s area (West Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight).
MGjv, which is made up of Morrison Utility Services and Galliford Try working in a joint venture, will deliver Southern Water’s investment to expand and maintain its network of water mains and sewers, totalling more than 53,000 kilometres in length. Support will also be provided by strategic design partner AECOM.
The Delivery Partners will work closely with MWH, which was separately appointed as Southern Water’s Strategic Solutions Partner last month. MWH is helping to design and plan the company’s infrastructure projects, for example, upgrades to water supply and wastewater treatment works, as well as other improvement work.
The new contracts with CMDP, GTM and MGjv begin this month and will run to the end of March 2020. They each incorporate an option to extend them for a further five years.
Later this year, Southern Water will announce which companies will be supporting the day-to-day repair and maintenance of its network of water mains and sewers, as well as its water supply and wastewater treatment works, during 2015 to 2020.
