Thames Water has gone out to tender with a contract worth up to £15 million for system integration (SCADA) in connection with the Thames Tideway Tunnel.
The contract will covers the design development, architectural and installation design, procurement, construction, supply and installation, factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, training and maintenance of the SCADA system together with the support and licensing of the SCADA system during and potentially after the commissioning and acceptance periods.
The 6.5-7.2 m diameter, 25 km long main tunnel between Thames' existing operational sites at Acton Storm Tanks and Abbey Mills Pumping Station will control untreated sewage from 34 Combined Sewer Outflows(CSOs) identified as ‘unsatisfactory’ by the Environment Agency. Sewage flows captured in the Thames Tideway Tunnel are intended to be transferred down the London Tideway Tunnels route for pumping out and treatment at Beckton Sewage Treatment Works.
The Contract covers a full range of system integration works and services which are broadly divided into five stages:
1. The design development, architectural and installation design, procurement, construction, supply and installation, factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, training and maintenance of the SCADA system This includes the external communications, telemetry, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, historical database, package and the integration of: Thames Tideway Tunnel, Lee Tunnel, Thames Water operational sites and all other outlying CSOs that require monitoring.
2. Participating with the main works contractors in the systems commissioning of the project prior to completion of the main works. Stages 1 and 2 are expected to commence in Summer 2015 and continue until 2024.
3. Acceptance testing of the SCADA system during the defects period of the main works (the 3 year period following completion of the main works (2024-2026).
4. Support and maintenance of the SCADA system during acceptance testing
5. Potentially some or all of the support, maintenance of the SCADA system and connectivity services following project acceptance
