According to the Water Industry Commission for Scotland(WICS), as water companies in England and Wales inform Ofwat of planned rises in bills either at or above the rate of inflation, Scotland is bucking the trend.

UK needs powerful climate change minister

The House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) has today published the results of its inquiry into the adequacy of the current structure and operation of government in dealing with the challenge posed by climate change. The Committee is calling for the creation of a new post of climate change minister.

The Government has, this week, presented a package of actions to deliver the step change needed to ensure that supply chains and public services will be increasingly low carbon, low waste and water efficient, respect biodiversity and deliver wider sustainable development goals.

Treasury failure on green taxation

The House of Commons Environmental Audit Select Committee has strongly criticised the Treasury for its failure to increase green taxes and introduce other measures to help reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change.
