Ofwat has agreed to what is described as a “major change in policy” to the credit arrangements put in place in the Wholesale Retail Code (WRC) for retailers in the competitive non-household business market.

Water industry regulator Ofwat has today announced that it has stepped in with proposed changes to the retail market codes to make sure that wholesalers act in good faith in their negotiations with retailers, especially new entrants.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is consulting on the appeals procedure about decisions made by Ofwat to modify the codes which govern competition and regulate agreements between incumbent and non-domestic water suppliers.

Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd has gone out to tender with a contract for the supply of water and wastewater retail services to its sites in Scotland and England worth an estimated £24.5 million.
