New inset appointment application

Ofwat has said that it has received a new application for an inset appointment at a site in Waterlooville called Old Park Farm under Section 8 of the Water Industry Act 1991.

Independent Water Networks (IWN) has applied to the Water Services Regulation Authority to be appointed as a water undertaker in place of Portsmouth Water Limited and as a sewerage undertaker in place of Southern Water Services Limited in relation to the unserved site situated at OS Grid Reference 466945,110335 and known as Old Park Farm. Maps of the area affected can be inspected at IWNL's office during business hours.

IWNL is part of the Inexus Group which is involved in the design, construction, ownership, operation and maintenance of utility networks and associated site infrastructure, serving new developments throughout the UK mainland. The Group focuses primarily on the new build market and with c.500,000 utility connections obtained since 1993, Inexus is the leading independent utility and infrastructure provider in the UK.The Group has broadly divided its activities between the regulated ownership of utility network assets and the unregulated provision of utility infrastructure and asset management services. Growing at between 15 and 20% per annum, the Inexus group of companies owns assets at 7,000 sites across England, Scotland and Wales.

In August 2007 Ofwat granted an inset appointment to allow IWNL to supply water and sewerage services to a 950 home development (within Anglian Water’s area of supply) near Corby, Northamptonshire.  IWNL was also granted an inset appointment variation to supply water and sewerage services (again within Anglian Water's area) in March this year.
