OFWAT CONSULTATION ON PERFORMANCE RELATED PAY 25 MAR 2025Ofwat has today launched a new consultation seeking feedback on a new rule that will prevent water companies from awarding bonuses to water bosses in certain circumstances.

HOUSES OF PARLIAMENTThe Planning and Infrastructure Bill had its Second Reading in Parliament yesterday – ahead of the reading Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner warned that there was ‘no time to waste’ and urged Parliament to back key legislation needed to speed up the delivery of the Plan for Change.

Environment Agency officer genericA partnership between the Environment Agency and Oxford City Council has secured the infrastructure needed to allow the development of around 18,000 new homes in and around Oxford, delivering change in the area in line with the Government’s ambition to unlock growth.

CMA LogoThe Competition and Markets Authority has granted Castle Water permission to appeal Ofwat’s decision of 5 February 2025 to reject the business retailer’s request for a change to the Wholesale Retail Code.

CMA LogoOfwat has formally referred the requests from five companies for a redetermination of their PR24 Final Determination to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). The referral commences the six-month period which the CMA has to consider appeals (subject to any request for an extension).

NATURAL RESOURCES WALES LOGONew water quality data published by Natural Resources Wales (NRW) on phosphorus levels in Welsh Special Area of Conservation (SAC) rivers shows small improvements, while interim water quality classifications for Welsh rivers hold steady.

BATHING WATER BEACH Durdle DoorThe government has set out plans to reform the bathing water regulations, saying that the reforms to modernise bathing waters could see swimmers enjoying cleaner water and flexible seasons.

Royal Courts of Justice 1The Court of Appeal has been told that a plan to restructure Thames Water through a loan of up to £3 billion should not have been approved by the High Court as its terms are "mispriced and inappropriate."

OFWAT LOGOOfwat has issued more guidance on data that water companies will need to provide for the delivery plans they were asked to publish as part of the PR24 final determinations. The plans must set out how they will deliver their PR24 enhancement programme in relation to price control deliverables (PCDs) and interim milestones.
