South East Water is inviting technology firms who may have solutions for reducing the demand for water, or for providing new or increased supplies to come forward if they are developing solutions or have ideas.
Announcing the initiative, South East Water said it is actively working to secure the water supplies of the future by inviting interested parties to offer both solutions to reduce the demand for water or to offer new supplies of water.
Lee Dance, Head of Water Resources and Environmental at South East Water, said:
“We’re keen to partner with any business or organisation that can offer genuine innovative solutions on how to reduce water demand or offer new supplies of water on an individual property or community level.”
“Any idea is welcome and could be put forward to form part of our next Water Resource Management Plan which sets out what we need to do to meet demand for tap water over the next 25 years and beyond.”
The water company is looking for proposals from organisations which have ideas, access to, or are in the process of developing innovative technology for the following areas:
- Innovation in leakage, pressure and network management
- Demand management activities such as customer education or water audits
- Installation of water efficient technologies or retro-fit to properties in order to reduce consumption or water losses
- New water treatment technology, for example companies that can offer water re-use technologies and facilities
South East Water said that ultimately it wants to develop new water resources and innovative water use reduction solutions in genuine partnership with individuals, landowners, businesses and technology firms.
Opportunities are on offer to accept solutions from both within and outside of the water company’s supply area – South East Water said it would welcome ideas surrounding both raw and treated water, together with proposals from landowners and other organisations with access to surplus private water sources.
The utility is also keen to hear from parties with ideas to reduce water demand on an individual property or community level. Interested parties are invited to contact South East Water’s Water Resources Team at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by 1 June 2016.
The water company said it would however continue to accept ideas after this date for future planning. Some of the ideas put forward could potentially go into SEW’s Water Resource Management Plan which will set out what the firm needs to do to meet demand for tap water over the next 25 years and beyond.
The plan will go out to public consultation in early 2018, ready for publication towards the end of the year.
