The entry deadline for applications for the Institute of Water Northern Area Innovation Awards 2013 is close of play at the end of this week.
The Awards, which recognise outstanding innovations within the industry, are open to all individuals, teams or organisations working within the water industry operating primarily within the Northern Area.
The Northern Area comprises the operational areas of Yorkshire Water, Northumbrian Water and United Utilities – entries will be accepted from the suppliers of water companies and are not restricted solely to Institute of Water members.
Nick Ellins, Institute of Water President, said:
“The Innovation Awards are an excellent way to encourage the innovation that the industry requires to be successful and provide a welcome means of recognising the emerging talent across the sector.
“Now in their third year, the awards are just a part of the commitment the Institute of Water is making to promote the right cultural environment and encourage pride in the sector.”
There are four categories for entries: innovative technology; customer service; ways of working; and society and sustainability.
The Northern Area winners will join regional finalists from seven other areas across the UK to go forward to the National Innovation Awards, sponsored by Thames Water Ltd, which will take place in May 2013.
Judges for the National Innovation Awards are: Jonson Cox, Chair of Ofwat (standing as head judge for the second year); Sue Petch, Drinking Water Quality Regulator for Scotland; Jacqui Atkinson, Defra Inspector; Rupert Kruger, Head of Innovation at Thames Water; and Arthur Thornton, Principal Consultant with Atkins Global.
The National Innovation Awards will be presented by Professor Martin Cave at the Institute of Water President’s Dinner at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh on Friday 17 May 2013.
