Severn Trent Water is planning a £6.5 million investment to upgrade a total of 45km of water pipes in and around Derby between now and the middle of 2019.
The initial phase of work is due to start on Monday 12 February and should be finished by the end of March, taking around seven weeks to complete. Part of the work will see engineers working to install new water pipes in the Allestree area next month.
Severn Trent has met with the local community to share plans and listen to any views and concerns.
John Springett is leading on the project for Severn Trent which is being carried out by the water company’s contractor Amey.
The utility is also starting work in mid-February on the next stage of its £60 million investment in Newark. Last year Severn Trent launched the Siege Breaker, which is still tunnelling under the streets of Newark - the water company now needs to connect the existing sewer pipes to the tunnel.
The Newark scheme is expected to be completed by 2020, and, when finished, more than 400 homes and businesses will be protected from sewer flooding.
Contract partners, BNM Alliance will be carrying out work on the project on behalf of the company.
HUBER Technology UK & Ireland are inviting people to register for their March webinar where they will be providing information about HUBER water intake screens for municipal and industrial applications.
