South East Water applies for water abstraction increase

South East Water has made an application to the Environment Agency made to increase abstraction  at one of its groundwater sources by 25% annually.

The application is to vary its full licence to abstract water (serial number 9/40/03/0288/GR) which authorises the abstraction of water from groundwater at TQ 52 41 and TQ 51 41.

The variation applied for is to increase the annual quantity from 2,013,000 cubic metres to 2,555,000 cubic metres and to remove the condition from TQ 51 41 which currently restricts abstraction to 1,500 cubic metres per day for 60 days.

A copy of the application, map, plan and other documents submitted are available for  inspection at the Environment Agency’s Orchard House offices in Addington in Kent.
