Port of Tilbury London Ltd tenders £90m construction contracts

Port of Tilbury London Ltd has gone out to tender with two separate contracts to extend the facilities worth an estimated £90 million in total.

Port of Tilbury London (PoTLL) is looking for suitably accredited and demonstrably experienced contractors to design and build new port facilities for the existing Tilbury port.

The purpose of the works is to increase capacity at the port by providing new fixed and floating berthing facilities for the unloading and loading of ships and new hard standings for cargo handling, processing and storage.

The works will also include a new rail head, the construction of road and rail links to existing networks, and sundry port facility building works.

PoTLL has submitted an application to the UK Planning inspectorate for development consent for the project under the Planning Act 2008 - final determination of the application is expected in February 2019

The procurement will be split into two contracts: (1) a marine works contract, and (2) a terrestrial works contract.

The terrestrial works contract, worth an estimated £65 million, comprises all works landside of the existing sea wall/flood defences including RoRo terminal and enabling works for a construction materials and aggregates terminal (CMAT) and RoRo approach bridge link.

The £25 million marine works contract covers all works within the tidal estuary beyond the existing sea wall /flood defences including the floating pontoon, articulated bridge, fenders, dolphins and associated pilings, river bed preparation and Construction Materials and Aggregates Terminal (CMAT) berth.

Suppliers are being advised to allow adequate time for uploading documents and to dispatch the electronic response well in advance of the closing time to avoid any last minute problems.

Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 30th April 2018.
