South Staffs Water has gone out to tender with a contract for water-well drilling and borehole works worth an estimated £4 million.
The water company needs to refurbish and maintain the condition of its boreholes to ensure the functionality of its assets. To optimise the borehole performance works will need to be carried out to improve and maintain their condition including:
- drilling new boreholes
- drilling current boreholes deeper
- cleaning, relining, repairing and other rehabilitation of boreholes and headworks
- abandonment of redundant boreholes
- facilitating works to allow borehole surveys and investigations.
The framework contract will run for an initial 5 year contract period with a further 2 year extension option.
