Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust tenders £480k contract for water tank installation

Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust has gone out to tender with a contract for water tank installation worth an estimated £480,000 (inc VAT).

NHS BIRMINGHAM WOMENS CHILDRENS NHS FOUNDATION TRUST

Scope of the works, which is located in the existing East and West Towers of Block P, covers the upgrade of the Trust's water storage on site.

The scheme involves the provision of new storage tanks and associated new pipework/systems connecting onto the existing infrastructure systems being retained. The works will involve a contractor design solution to provide the new mezzanine floors to support the new storage tanks including altering and adapting the means of access to the new/existing facility.

Whilst the majority of the new installation works can be undertaken simultaneously, the final connections/bringing the new tanks/system live must be done sequentially.

The successful contractor will be required to commission (including chlorination) the first tank to allow partial possession of the works prior to commencing the final connection works for the second tank.

It is envisaged that the existing tanks will still be in use to allow draw off of water from the existing tanks until empty and the new tanks are fully commissioned.

Contractors tendering for the work are required to provide a cost for emptying and removing the tanks as part of their submission.

Current estimated start and end contract dates are 6 October 2025 to 31 March 2026

Deadline to submit enquiries about the tender is 12:00pm on 16 September 2025 and the tender submission deadline is 5:00pm on 23 September 2025.

The University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is carrying out the procurement on behalf of the contracting authorities. The BSOL Procurement Collaborative, hosted by UHB, is authorised to run procurements on behalf of five Trusts within Birmingham and Solihull.
