Severn Trent Water has awarded an AMP8 contract for Gas to Grid (GTG) biomethane sampling with an estimated value of £1.2 million (inc VAT).

The water company currently has five operational Gas to Grid Plants at Minworth, Minworth 2, Strongford, Finham, & Stoke Bardolph 2.
The tender covered the sampling of the biomethane gas that is produced that:
- complies with UK Gas regulations and assuring quality of gas.
- confirms that the gas scrubbing filtration system is working correctly and will act as a warning when the filtration system requires replacing.
- confirms that the liquid commercial waste brought onto the site for digestion from external sources is not contaminated with unacceptable substances, which affect STW processes and the biomethane that is produced.
The contract was tendered in two Lots:
- Lot 1. Ongoing Tests
- Lot 2. ad-hoc sampling
The contract has been awarded to Scienco Ltd - earliest date the contract will be signed is 30 January 2026.
Current estimated start and end contract dates are 1 February 2026 to 31 January 2029 with further possible extension options to 31 January 2032.
