Eric Wright Water has opened a new office in Coatbridge near Glasgow and created nine jobs, with further recruitment still underway as part of their Scottish expansion programme.
The company underwent a name change from Site Electrical to Eric Wright Water on 1st January as part of a strategic move to build on its expansion in the water sector and the new office adds to its existing operation in Dumfries.
Former Scottish Water framework manager, Charlie Garvie, has been appointed to the new post of business manager and has been joined by operations manager, Sinclair Kerlin, along with a civil engineer, three electricians and three mechanical fitters.
The company is continuing to recruit across a number of electrical and mechanical roles.
Charlie Garvie's remit will be to build on the company's relationship with Scottish Water as the water company rolls out its SR15 infrastructure maintenance and investment programme.
His previous role at Scottish Water involved responsibility for managing the company's contractor relationships over the past eight years and his career has also included various roles for contractors involved in the water sector, including four years as a contracts manager with responsibility for Yorkshire Water projects.
Commenting on his new role, Charlie Garvie said:
"Eric Wright Water already has a proven track record with Scottish Water and our investment in a new office in Coatbridge means that we now have the central base needed to respond quickly to the water company's requirements across its vast network.”
"Many of those sites are remote and provide supply for a large area so much of my role will be to ensure that Eric Wright Water always delivers on time, on spec and on budget, no matter what challenges the scheme involves.”
"My previous experience means that I can bring contractor sector best practice to Eric Wright Water alongside a clear understanding of what's expected of us from the client's perspective. As we move forward into SR15, my remit will be to continue to drive growth and build the Eric Wright Water business in Scotland, while ensuring that we continue to innovate and find new practical and cost effective solutions for Scottish Water."
In February the firm’s Bromsgrove office recruited Mark Wright to the newly-created position of framework manager for the Midlands. The appointment was prompted by Eric Wright Water's success in winning a framework agreement with Severn Trent for mechanical and electrical repairs and maintenance across the water company's southern area.
The two year framework has an option for three year extension and covers all Severn Trent's water and waste water treatment assets across Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Warwickshire.
Mark Wright joined the company after 23 years in the water sector in a mix of operational and key account management roles. He moved into the sector from the construction industry and spent 21 years with Severn Trent and a further two with South Staffs Water before deciding to move contractor-side again with Eric Wright Water.
Eric Wright Water is also looking to develop the Bromsgrove office's client base across the Midlands, Wales and the South West.
Eric Wright Water was formed as part of Eric Wright Civil Engineering Ltd in 2009 following the renewal of their Minor Works Framework with United Utilities.
In April 2013 it was awarded the new generation of works with United Utilities for their Asset Maintenance Support (AMS) contract which covers MEICA works throughout the North West region. The award cemented the firm’s position as a key contractor for UU which could see potentially 10 years work under the agreement - in the last 10 years EWW has completed over 700 projects for UU ranging in value from £1k to £1m.
