Scottish Water has gone out to tender with a contract for sludge transport services for a number of sites across Scotland worth an estimated £4.8 million.
The water company is looking to appoint contractors to provide transport services for treated and untreated sewage sludge from Scottish Water sites in Highlands, Islands, Fife, Tayside, Argyll & Greater Glasgow area.
Where untreated cake material is produced by a PFI operated site, the transport of materials to alternative outlets will be as directed by Scottish Water.
Scottish Water will divide the award into lots corresponding to the geographical sites and lots may be awarded to multiple contractors.
Initial contract term will be for 1 year with 5 further annual extension options.
