Northern Ireland Water has awarded a £38 million water and wastewater pumps framework contract to a total of six suppliers which will run for between two to six years.
With an initial two year contract period , a further four possible extension periods of 12 months each are available, making a total possible extension period of four years.
NIW operates a substantial range of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, telemetry & control equipment. Its M&E Services division is responsible for the maintenance of the equipment – it also provides technical advice and expertise as well as coordinating the day-to-day maintenance activities of the associated front-line maintenance teams.
M&E are responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair and replacement of waste water and water supply pumps at approximately 3500 sites across the Nortern Ireland Water region.
The new contract is to cover legacy pump equipment at NIW's sites and provide M&E Services with continuity of service - replacement pumps will be purchased via the contract.
Larger scale pump purchasing is conducted by NIW's Engineering Procurement Directorate through its capital works programme. Northern Ireland Water said a new integrated Capex and Opex framework for Water and Wastewater pumps and mixers is currently being developed to deliver the capital works programme.
The integrated framework will focus on securing better value for money by maximising economies of scale and improving standardisation.
FM Environmental Ltd, Drilling and Pumping Supplies Ltd, Enisca Ltd, NOV Mono Pumps Ltd, PCM Group UK Ltd and Xylem Water Solutions Ltd have all been appointed to the framework.
